Q. |
What is Certification? |
A. |
Certification is verification by an independent third-party
(Alterion) that the system meets or exceeds the Performance Baseline
for the proposed Seat Level on a quarterly basis. |
|
|
Q. |
What needs to be certified? |
A. |
Each configuration being offered for an Attachment
R Technology Refreshment. |
|
|
Q. |
How does a system obtain Certification? |
A. |
The vendor submits each system configuration
to Alterion for benchmarking and validation, along with a purchase
order or check for the certification fee. |
|
|
Q. |
How long is the Certification valid? |
A. |
Certification is valid for the quarter in which it
was issued and expires upon publication of the next Market Survey. |
|
|
Q. |
Are systems that appear on the Market Survey already Certified? |
A. |
No. In order for a system to be certified, the vendor must
pay the certification fee, regardless of whether or not the system
appears on the Market Survey. |
|
|
Q. |
What is the re-certification fee? |
A. |
The initial fee covers both the cost of testing the system and
administrative fees for that quarter. If that system is certified
in subsequent quarters, a re-certification fee (per system per
agency) is charged per quarter. |

|
Q. |
Why should we participate in the Market Survey? |
A. |
For two reasons:
- Presence on the Market Survey means direct exposure to
the NASA customer base.
- Participating in the Market Survey gives vendors the opportunity
to determine which Seat Level their system may qualify for
before submitting them for Certification, thus saving time
and money by submitting only properly configured systems
to be certified.
